This beautiful estate is situated along the Douro River in one of Portugal’s UNESCO World Heritage areas, the Douro Valley. Its history is rich in the traditions of wine, art and landscapes. Whether it was our Paleolithic ancestors or the Romans expanding their empire the Douro Valley has been a land of opportunity and exploration.
Our Vision
Santa Clara was purchased to transform the travel experience for travelers. The estate was cared for by one family for over 200 years until its purchase in 2018.
The estate is located in one of Portugal’s UNESCO World Heritage sites with its unique terrains and terroir that have been handcrafted over centuries giving it a rare appellation in the world of wines. We want to share this amazing history and traditions of wine and craftsmanship.
A Property Filled With Wonder
The estate was once a small piece of the land owned by the Santa Clara convent in Porto.
One of the ruins on the estate was a medieval hostel for pilgrims making their spiritual journey through the historic “Camino de Santiago” also known as The Way.
